Gold
Medal Win for Leanne Prout in All Ireland “B” Championship
August 16th 2010
Leanne Prout U14, had a good start to
the day, when she finished 2nd in the Long Jump with a pb
jump of 4m.07. She then went onto win the 100m sprint in a time of
13.29.
Cormac Fahy U16, also a fine race,
when he finished 2nd in the 100m U16 in a time of 12.19.
Shauna Dunphy U15, running in her 1st Championship race, was
always up with the leaders in the 800m and she finished 2nd
in a great time of 2.38.
Darren Prout U14, finished 4th in his Multi-Events and
Darragh Shelly competing for the 1st time in a Multi-Events
competition finished a great 7th from a big field of
competitors.
To
bring the Track and Field Championship season to a closure at National,
Shane O’Dwyer U18 was selected to compete on the Irish Celtic
International Team, where he helped the Irish Team to victory with
achieving 2nd place in the HJ with a fine clearance of 1.84.
Aoife Bartley Wins Double
Gold Medals at the All Irelands Track & Field Championship in Tullamore
The 3rd and 4th
Leg of the All Ireland Juvenile Championship was held in Tullamore last
weekend.

On
Saturday Aoife Bartley, U.19 competing in her last individual juvenile
events won Double Gold Titles in impressive style when she won the Long
Jump with a Personal Best Performance jump of 5.47m and she also won the
Triple Jump with a fine jump of 11.12m well ahead of the next
competitor.
Shane O’Dwyer, U.18 won his High Jump with a jump of 1.83m in a very
exciting competition where three of the athletes cleared 1.80m. Going
into the last round Shane was only in 3rd position having
had a fault at 1.80m
But was a clear winner at the 1.83m height with plenty to spare. Shane
will now be selected to compete on the Irish Celtic Team for the Celtic
International which will be held in Ireland in Athlone this year on
August 7th.
Under 15 Girls
Eimear Bartley was always up with the top competitors in the Shot Putt
U.15 final and finished 4th with a throw of 9.86m.
Emily Walsh who was competing in her first All Ireland final was 8th
in the Javelin final with a throw 24.72m. Sinead Curry, the first race
walker from our club to ever compete in an All Ireland Final finished 10th
with a Personal Best Performance of 12minutes, 53.82s.
U.19 Boys Shane Prout competing in his final juvenile event was 5th
in the Long Jump with a fine jump of 6.05m. Shane won the Triple Jump
on Day 2 of the All Ireland Championships.
On
Sunday the All Ireland Club & County Relay Finals were held. We had
three Club Teams competing each
Team qualified for their finals where each of them finished 5th.
This was great experience as all of the U.15
Teams are very young. The Girls U.15 team were Hannah Dalton, Clodagh
Fitzgerald, Sinead Cosgrave and Leanne Prout; Boys Under 15 team of
Conor Shelly, Darren Prout, Michael Dineen and Darragh Shelly and
Girls Under 19 team of Grainne Power, Yvonne Maher, Aoife Bartley and
Hannah Trehy.
County Relay Teams
Competing on the County Tipperary Teams we had a great start to the day
with our Girls U.13 team winning Gold with Rebecca Kelly running a great
1st leg handing the baton over to Amy White, Nenagh Oly.
Other members of the team were Sharlene Mauldsley, Newport and Phoebe
Murphy, Clonmel who ran a superb Finished leg for a convincing win.
Darren Prout ran a great 3rd leg as a member of the Boys U.15
Relay Team to win Bronze. Other members were Damon Gregory and Liam
Finn, Nenagh Oly and Conor Lynch, Newport.
Girls U.19
finished their juvenile Relay careers in a blaze of glory winning Gold.
Hannah Trehy was a
Member of the team along with Chloe Fahy
of Nenagh, Lorraine Healy, Moyne and Eimear Lynch of Newport.
Boys U.19
also had a great won to win Gold. Shane O’Dwyer and Shane Prout were
members of that team along with Daniel Maher, Tipp Town and Jaco
Oosthuysen, Clonmel. Three of the boys Shane O’Dwyer, Daniel Maher
And Jaco Oosthuysen will all be able to compete U.19 again in 2011.
Clodagh Fitzgerald ran the race of her life for the County Girls Team
U.15 along with Hannah Dalton, Leanne Prout and Aisling O’Donnell,
Nenagh Oly but finished just outside the medal.
Cormac Fahey was a member of the Boys U.17 County Relay Team and ran a
great 3rd leg. And Colleen Kennedy ran the finishing leg for
the Girls U.17. Both were unlucky to finish just outside the medals.
Next weekend we are back to Tullamore for the final championship, Multi
Events and B Championship.
All Ireland Track & Field Titles for Oran Brophy &
Cian Kinsella in the U.11 Team Ball Throw and Shane Prout in
the U.19 Triple Jump

The All Ireland Team Competition was held in Templemore there was a
great win in the 2 x Ball Throw U.11 for Oran Brophy with a throw of
32.50m and Cian Kinsella with a throw of 30.36m giving a total throw of
62.86m. Our boys led from the start with the wind blowing into the
throws it was difficult to have a perfect throw. This was Oran’s 2nd
All Ireland Gold, he won the title last year partnered by Craig Cooke.
Our Girls U.11 Team
of Alice Browning and Aoife Doyle finished 4th in the Ball
Throw with throws of 28.84m and 23.80m totalling 52.64m. Aoife Doyle
was partnered by Ciara Flaherty in the U.11 60m Sprint to finish a
creditable 6th in 19.25secs.
In
the individual All Ireland Championship
Shane Prout U.19 Boys
Won the Triple Jump with a jump of 13m well ahead of the other
competitors in the competition.
Girls U.19 Aoife
Bartley was 4th in the High Jump with a clearance of 1.50m
and she was 5th in the 100m Hurdles.
Girls U.15 Clodagh
Fitzgerald had a great competition in the 200m Hurdles where she
finished 2nd in the Heat and 3rd in the finals
with a time of 39.23s in very bad weather conditions.
Boys U.14 Darren
Prout was 4th in his Long Jump with a jump of 4.91m and
Darragh Shelly finished 7th in the Long Jump with a jump of
4.64m. In the 75mH Darragh was 5th in the final and Darren
was unlucky to have fallen when leading the final.
Girls U.14 Kelly
Ann Doyle had a good run in the hurdles when she finished 4th
in the Heat.
Girls U.12 Shauna
Twomey was 5th in the final of the Long Jump with a P.B. Jump
of 4.10m.
Treble
Titles for Keith Smith and Double Titles for Aoife Bartley
in the Senior Men’s and Women’s County Track & Field
Championship In Templemore

Keith
Smith had a great competition at his first County Senior Track &
Field Championship when he won Treble Titles in the Javelin with a throw
of 41.56m. He won the Long
Jump with a jump of 6.23m and the
High Jump with a clearance of 1.70m.
Aoife
Bartley won Double Titles the Senior Ladies High Jump with a clearance
of 1.55m
and
the Long Jump with a jump of 4.73m.

the County “B” Track & Field Championship

was on our side at The County B Track and Field Championship when the
sun shone
last
Monday in Templemore. It
was a great championship for our Club with Caitlin Twomey
U.10
winning the 60m Sprint and Long Jump with a P.B. jump of 3.22m.
Martin
Kehoe U.11 was a convincing winner of the 60m Sprint and the 500m.
Conor
Shelly
was in great form when he won the U.14 60m Sprint and Long Jump with a
P.B.
jump of 3.83m. Well done to
all our athletes who were medal winners and all
our
athletes who competed and enjoyed a great competition most of whom won
medals
either
individually or in the fun Relays.
Girls
U.9 Jodie
McCauley was 3rd in the Long Jump with a jump of 2.42m.

Caitlin Twomey won Double Golds when she won the 60m sprint and the
Long
Jump with a jump of 3.22m, our Carrick athletes succeeded in winning all
the
Medals
in the U.10 Long Jump, Miriam Daly was 2nd in the Long jump
with a jump of 3.13
and
Rachel Walsh was 3rd with a jump of 3m. Roseanne Fitzgerald
was 2nd in the 60m Sprint
and
Laura Whelan was 3rd. Grace
Roche was 3rd in the Ball Throw with a throw of 16.14m.

Lauren McCauley won the Ball Throw with a fine throw of 19.58m
and
Ciara
Butler was 2nd with a throw of 17.60m.

Rhian Lowndes won the Ball Throw with a throw of 27.11m. Zara Galvin

3rd in the 80m and 600m.

Dara Kervick Wins All Ireland T&F Junior 400m and
Northern Ireland & Leinster Senior T&F 400m Championship June 20th
2010
Dara Kervick is in the form of his life winning his first All Ireland
Junior Title when he won the 400m in 48.55 which was run in very windy
conditions in Tullamore last Sunday. He also won The Leinster Senior
400m Championship in Tullamore in a time of 48.52s. He won the 400m
Title at The Northern Ireland Senior Championship in Antrim Forum Track
in a time of 48.43s. This week Dara will Travel to Belgium and some
other
European Countries to compete in their Track & Field Championships. We
wish him the Best of Luck!
Munster Track & Field ChampionshipTitles for Oisin
Brophy and Aoife Bartley
June 20th 2010
The final leg of the Munster Track & Field Championship was held in
Cork.
Girls U.19 Aoife
Bartley completed her Juvenile championships with a win in the Long Jump
with a jump of 5.15m.
Girls U.12 Shauna
Twomey was 5th in the Long Jump with a PB jump of 4.02m.
Boys U.13 Oisin
Brophy won his first Munster Title when he won the Javelin with a throw
of 22.54m, Aaron Fogarty was 4th and Mark Kehoe was 6th.
Boys U.18 Shane
O’Dwyer was 2nd in the High Jump with clearance of 1.70m,
4th
in the Long Jump with a jump of 5.80m and 4th in the 200m in
a time of 23.63. Unfortunately Shane was injured and not able to
compete to his ability, hopefully he will have recovered for his All
Ireland Championship on July 25th.

Kinsella and Oran Brophy in the U.11 Team Ball Throw at Munster Track &
Field Championship

The U.14, U.15 along with the U.9.10 and 11 Munster
T& F Championships were held in Castle Island last Sunday.
U.14 Boys -
Darren Prout won Double Gold in the 75m Hurdles in a time of 11.73s in
a new record time and he also won the Long Jump with a jump of 5.07m and
he was 2nd in the 200m Heats and 4th in the 200m
Final.
Darragh Shelly was 3rd in the Long Jump
with a P.B. jump of 4.76m and he was 4th in the75m Hurdles in
a time of 13.05s. Edward Carroll was 5th in the Javelin with
a throw of 22.60m. The Boys U.14 Relay 4 x 100m Team were 4th
with a team of Conor and Darragh Shelly, Michael Dinneen and Darren
Prout.
U.14 Girls -
Kelly Ann Doyle was 2nd in the 75mH in a time of 12.29s.
Leanne Prout was 3rd in the 200m Heats in a time of 28.45s
Our Girls U.14 Relay Team of Kelly Ann Doyle, Leanne Prout, Rebecca
Kelly and Sinead Cosgrave finished 4th to qualify for the All
Ireland Championships on 26th June.
U.15 Girls – In
the 250mH Clodagh Fitzgerald ran in her first race of that distance and
was a Silver Medal winner running a great race to finish 2nd
. Clodagh was 4th in the 80mHurdle Heats and 5th
in the 80m Hurdle Finals in a time of 13.53s and she was 5th
in the Javelin. Sinead Curry was 3rd in the 2000m Walk in her
first Munster Competition. Eimear Bartley was 2nd in the
Shot Putt with a throw of 9.68m and 6th in Javelin. Emily
Walsh finished 4th in the Javelin.
