October 20th 2008 Kelly-Ann Doyle qualifies for Munster Cross Country Team

The 1st Leg of the Munster Cross Country Championship was held at the Turnpike, Littleton last Sunday.  Big fields of about 150 competitors were the order of each race.

In the Girls U.10 Eimear Long got off to a great start to finish 23rd ,  Cora Maher was 36th and both girls scored on the Tipperary team to win Bronze Medals. Aoife Doyle and Shauna Twomey finished in the bunch. 

Kelly-Ann DoyleU.12 had a great run to finish 8th and qualify for the Munster team to compete at the All Ireland which will be held in Tramore on November 23rd.   She was also a scoring member of the Tipperary Team to win Gold.  Sinead Cosgrove and Naoimi Ryan also ran well.

Aaron Fogarty  U.12 and competing out of age, ran another good race to finish 14th and was the 2nd scoring member of the Tipperary team to win Bronze.  Other members of the team running well were Owen and Darragh  Kelly and Edward Carroll.

U.14 Boys Liam Landy running well from the start and was always up with the leaders finished 13th to score for the Tipperary team to win Bronze.

 
 

October 12th 2008 Great Win for Aaron Fogarty in Boys U.11 Cross Country

Last Sunday we travelled to Littleton for the 2nd leg of the Tipperary Juvenile Cross Country.  In the 1st race Aoife Doyle was our only competitor U.9.  Aoife got a great start but unfortunately had a fall but was brave enough to recover quickly and finished a fantastic  4th.

Next race we had a team in the boys U.9 all running well, with Oran Brophy coming home in 7th place, Aidan Keane 16th, Cian Kinsella 19th, Cathal Kelly, 27th and Aaron Kinsella running out of his age finished a great 36th for a 4th placed team.

Kelly-Ann Doyle U.13 was always up with the leaders and ran a very positive race to finish 6th  out of age.

In the Boys U.11 here we had great excitement and encouragement for Aaron Fogarty who was always in control, running with the leaders from the gun and finishing with a Sprint finish for a commanding win, leading his Team to a Bronze Medal win.  He was well supported by Brandon O’Sullivan 14th, Mark Kehoe 17th, Oisin Brophy 21st and Andrew Long and Darra Kelly finishing in the bunch.

In the Boys U.15 we had one competitor Liam Landy running another great race to finish 9th out of his age and gaining more experience for next weeks Munster Championship U.14.

Next Sunday we travel back to Littleton for the 1st leg of the Munster Cross Country Championship for Even Ages. We will have teams in Girls U.10 & U.12 and Boys U.12 and competitors at U.10 & U.14 Boys.

 


 

Sunday 5th October 2008 Juvenile Even Age Cross Country Dunkerrin 

We travelled to North Tipperary for the 1st leg of the Juvenile Cross Country held in Dunkerrin.  Our Girls under 10 were the 1st competitors of the day with Emer Long leading from start running a fantastic race to finish 4th.  Emer was well supported by Aoife Doyle in 7th place, Cora Maher 11th, Shauna Twomey 14th  with  Caithlin Twomey finishing in the bunch. These places were enough to win the gold medals with 36 points.

Our Girls under 12 were lead home by Kelly-Ann Doyle in 4th place, Sinead Cosgrove 13th, Naomi Ryan 20th & Jessica Dawson 29th to win bronze medals.

In the Boys under 12 Aaron Fogarty running in his 1st competitive race had a fantastic run to finish 7th out of his age.  Others to run well were Mark Kehoe 21st, Darragh Kelly 33rd & Miceal Dunne 36th.

In the Boys under 14 we had one competitor Liam Landy running in his 1st competitive race. Liam was always up with the leaders this was indeed a great competitive start for him to finish 3rd. Next Sunday we travel to Littleton for the un-even ages Cross Country. 

  We would be delighted for new members to join us to get fit.  Our training days are Tuesday, Wednesdays & Fridays at 4 pm. So there is a choice of day for everybody. Cidona Primary Schools Competition will be held on Wednesday 22nd October in the Marlfield GAA Centre Clonmel.

TIPPERARYS CELTIC ATHLETIC TEAM MEMBERS

L TO R Jaco Oosthuysen Clonmel was 2nd in the Javelin U16 with a throw of 45.63.  Dara Kervick Carrick on Suir was 3rd in the 200m U18 in a time of 22.78.  Shane O Dwyer

Carrick on Suir was 4th in the High Jump with a pb jump of 1m71.  Shane Prout Coolquill was 2nd in the Triple Jump with a pb jump of 13m57. 

FRONT ROW Chloe Fahy Nenagh Oly was 4th in the 75mh U16 and ran a great 2nd leg for the Irish 4 x 100 Relay Team which finished 3rd.  Aoife Bartley Carrick on Suir was 3rd in the Triple Jump U18 with a jump of 11m25.
