Munster Juvenile Championships

Girls U.9 Team Star At Munster Championship.

The Munster Juvenile U.9 to U.11 team and U.12 to U.13 Track and Field Championship was held at Ennis Track, County Clare last weekend June 11th and 12th.

The girls U.9 had a great Championship, the Long Jump team of Aine Doyle and Ciara Dunne were first and their club mates Kellie Bester and Lynn Vermeer were 3rd.In the 60m sprint the team of Aine Doyle and Kellie Bester won sliver. Their relay team also ran a great race to win the Relay final with a team of Kellie Bester, Aine Doyle, Ciara Dunne, Lynn Vermeer and Gwen Flatley
In the girls U.12 Aoife Doyle was 2nd in the ball throw with a throw of 31.70m. In the High Jump Ciara Flaherty was joint 3rd with a jump of 1.20m, with her club mate Aoife Doyle finished in joint 4th place also clearing 1.20m.
In the Boys U.12 Martin kehoe and Jake Vermeer had a brilliant Long Jump competition and both finished with PB jumps of 4.08m and 4.03m respectively. Jake also had a PB in the shot putt with a throw of 6.34m and Martin had a PB jump in the High Jump of 1.25m.

Munster Championships 11th & 12th June


In Girls U.13 Shauna Twomey did very well in the reaching the finals of the 60m Hurdles and was unlucky not to be placed in the High Jump when she jumped 1.30m the same height as the bronze medal winners. In the Long Jump Shauna finished 5th with a great jump of 3.99m in horrendous weather conditions.
In the Boys U.13 Emmet Whelan did well in the High Jump with a PB jump of 1.25m, he was also 6th in the final of 70m Hurdles.

The  first round of the Woodies DIY National Track & Field League was held in CastleIsland last Sunday 12th June, with Tipperary competing in both men’s and women’s division 1.
Double Titles for Keith Smith at League Championship.

Our athletes had a great competition and enjoyed the team experience and support. Aoife Bartley had a great start for the team when she won the 100m Hurdles; she also won gold in the High Jump with a jump of 1.55m. Aoife was 2nd in the Long Jump with a good jump of 5.07m.
Colleen Kennedy was 2nd in the 400m Hurdles and both athletes were members of the 4x100m relay team finishing 3rd.
In the 1,500m Martina O’Dwyer ran a great race finishing 1st in a time of 4:59.26. Martina also finished 3rd in the 800m with a time of 2:39.46.
In the men’s team Keith Smith won double events when he won the long jump with a PB jump of 6.60m, Keith also won the Javelin with a fine throw of 43.26m.
Jim Healy making a welcome return to competitive athletics won the discus with a throw of 36.82m and was 3rd in the Hammer with a throw of 34.25m.
The Triple Jump was won by Shane Prout with a fine jump of 13.37m. 
Shane O’Dwyer won the High Jump with a clearance of 1.90m he also finished in 2nd place in the 100m. Keith Smith, Shane O’Dwyer, Shane Prout were joined by Patrick Lynch of Newport to win the 4x100m Relay.
Well done to both teams and to Pat Healy (Team Manager). Our women’s team is 3rd overall on 107 points and the men’s team is joint 3rd with 106 points.  The 2nd round will be held in Athlone on July 17th.
