High Jump Record for shane o'Dwyer
The Munster Indoor Championship was held in Nenagh last weekend. Shane O’Dwyer competing in his last Juvenile Indoor Munster Championship was in brilliant form when he broke a ten year High Jump record with a clearance of 1.94m.In the competition jumping started at a height of 1.50m.
Shane and PJ Galvin St. Brendans AC started serious jumping at 1.75m when all the other competitors in the event had finished jumping. Shane and PJ cleared the first three heights on their first attempts, at 1.90m Shane Cleared first time with PJ clearing on the second attempt.
It became very exciting when the bar was raised to 1.94m a new record height for the Championship. This brought all the spectators to their feet with rapturous applause to help both competitors try to achieve the new record.
Both lads failed to clear on their first two attempts with Shane clearing the height on his third attempt and setting a new Championship record.
It was a great help to have another competitor of equal standard competing with him. In the past few weeks Shane has cleared 1.95m in competition, with a 2m height well within his capability.
