Munster U.11 Team Track & Field Competition June 2010

Cian Kinsella and Oran Brophy won the Under 11 Boys  2 x Team Ball Throw with a throw of 36.12m and 33.23m qualifying for the All Ireland Team Ball Throw.

U.11 Girls - Aoife Doyle and Ciara Flaherty ran a brilliant 60m to finish 3rd in the 2 x 60m Team Competition.  Aoife Doyle and Alice Browning finished 3rd in the 2 x Team Ball Throw with throws of 23 and 28m respectively.

Our Girls U.11 Relay Team of Alice Browning, Aoife Doyle, Lauryn McAuley and Ciara O’Flaherty ran a good race to finish 4th but were unlucky not to qualify for the All Ireland Finals.

Next week we travel to Cork for the U.12, 13 Age Groups and U.16 to U.19 Munster Championships.


Double Titles for Shane Prout, Individual at Munsters Junior T&F Championship, Gold For

At The Munster Junior Track and Field Championship which was held recently in Cork.  Shane Prout who was entered as an individual won Double Titles when he won Gold in the Junior Men’s Long Jump with a jump of 6.35m and Gold in the Triple Jump with a jump of 12.36m.

Junior Mens -Shane O’Dwyer won the  High Jump with a clearance of 1.85m and he was 3rd in the Long Jump with a jump of 6.12m.

Junior Women - Hannah Trehy was 2nd in the Junior Women’s 400m Hurdles.

Our athletes represented their schools over the past few weeks at the East Munster Schools Track and Field Championship and the Munster Schools Track and Field Championships.


Munster Schools Championship  Results June 2010

Last Saturday at the Munster Schools Championship Shane O’Dwyer, CBS won the Senior Men’s High Jump with a Personal Best clearance of 1.91m and he was 2nd in the Long Jump with a Personal Best jump of 6.51m.

Junior Girls - Clodagh Fitzgerald, Scoil Mhuire won the Javelin with a throw of  25.29m. Eimear Bartley was 2nd in the Shot with a throw of 9.36m and 3rd in the Triple Jump with a jump of 9.26m.

Intermediate Girls -Emma O’Gorman, Scoil Mhuire  won the 100m and she was 3rd in the Triple Jump with a jump of 9.57m. Colleen Kennedy also Scoil Mhuire was 3rd in the 80m Hurdles in a time of 12.7.

Senior Girls - Hannah Trehy, Community College Cashel was 2nd in the 400m Hurdles in a time of 74.59.

Intermediate Boys - Nollag Brophy, CBS was 2nd  Javelin with a throw of 37.12m.

Senior Boys - Shane O’Dwyer, CBS won the  High Jump with a clearance of 1.91m and 2nd in the Long Jump with a jump of 6.51m.


East Munster Schools held in Waterford Results June 2010

Junior Girls -Clodagh Fitzgerald, Scoil Mhuire won the  75mHurdles and she was 2nd in the Javelin.

Eimear Bartley also Scoil Mhuire won the Shot and she was 2nd in the Triple Jump. Emily Walsh, Scoil Mhuire won the Javelin.  Our girls Relay Team from Scoil Mhuire were 2nd with a team of Emily Walsh,

Hannah Dalton, Zoe Lynch and Heather Dowley and Shauna Cummins.

Intermediate Girls - Emma O’Gorman, Scoil Mhuire  won Double Titles when she won the 100m and the Triple Jump. Colleen Kennedy also Scoil Mhuire was 2nd in the 80m Hurdles and she was 3rd in the Long Jump.

Senior Girls - Hannah Trehy, Community College Cashel won the 400m Hurdles. Grainne Power, Pres Clonmel,  was 2nd in both the 100m and  200m.

Minor Boys - Sean Cooney, CBS was 3rd in the Long Jump

Intermediate Boys - Nollage Brophy, CBS was 2nd in the Javelin.

Senior Boys - Shane O’Dwyer, CBS, Senior School was 2nd in the High Jump and 2nd in the Long Jump.

 

Aoife Doyle was the Star of the Tipperary U.9 to U.12 Track and Field Ch May 2010

Aoife Doyle U.11 won the 60m in a time of 9.20 and Ball Throw with a throw of 25.15m and led the U.12 Girls Relay to victory.  Aoife also won Silver Medals in the High Jump with a clearance of 1.16m, beaten only on count-back, the 500m with a time of 2.09. Aoife also won a Bronze Medal in the Long Jump with a jump of 3.31m.

Shauna Twomey U.12 also had a great championship when she won the 60m Sprint and the Long Jump with a jump of 3.55m.  Shauna was 3rd in the Shot Putt with a throw of 5.89m and she won Gold in the U.12 Relay Team.

U.11 Boys Oran Brophy won the Ball Throw with a throw of 27.02m and was 3rd in the Long Jump with a jump of 3.42m.

Other Silver Medal winners were Cian Kinsella, U.11 in the High Jump with a clearance of 1.05m.  Cian was also 3rd in the Ball Throw with a throw of 25.06m.

Girls U.10 Alexandra Lapiy was 2nd in the Ball Throw with a throw of 19.32m.

Girls U.11 Alice Browning competing as an individual was 3rd in the Ball Throw with a throw of 24.66m.

Girls U.12 Cora Maher was 2nd in the Long Jump with a jump of 3.34m.

In the Boys U.11 John O’Dwyer ran a great 600m to finish 3rd in 2.86minutes. 

In the Relays Girls Team U.12 our won Gold with a team of Aoife Doyle, Shauna Twomey, Zara Galvin and Cora Maher.  Our Girls U.10 Relay team were 2nd with a team of Laura Whelan, Caitlin Twomey, Roseanne Fitzgerald and Alexandra Lapiy. 

In the Boys U.10 Relay our team of Sean Freyne, Dillon Wall, James Daly and Barry Kehoe were Bronze winners.

Boys U.12 Relay Team were also 3rd with a team of Emmet Whelan, Cian Kinsella, Andrew Long and Josh Everett.

We were delighted to have so many new athletes who were competing for the first time and were very competitive for beginners and the experience will no doubt stand to them for the next competition.


Shane O’Dwyer wins Gold Medal   at The Munster Junior Track & Field Ch in Cork May 2010.

At The Munster Junior Championship held in Cork last Monday,  Shane O’Dwyer won the High Jump with a fine clearance of 1.85m.  He was 2nd in the Long Jump with a jump of 6.13m. Hannah Trehy was 2nd in the Junior Women’s 400m Hurdles.

Shane Prout who competed as an Individual won Double Gold when he won the Junior Men’s Long Jump 6.38m and the Triple Jump with a jump of 12.36m.

Four Golds for Eimear Bartley U.15 and Keith Smith Jnr Men at the County Track & Field Championship

And  There were 5 Golds for Darren Prout U.14, as an Individual Competitor May 2010

Our Co. T & F Championship for U.13 to Junior was held last weekend in Templemore.  Darren Prout, competing as an Individual was the Star Competitor of the Championship  when he won the 75m Hurdles, 80m Sprint, 200m, Long Jump and Triple Jump. Eimear Bartley U.15 and Keith Smith Junior Men won 4 Titles each.  Eimear won the High Jump, Long Jump, Shot Putt and Javelin and Keith won the 100m, Long Jump, High Jump and Javelin.

Boys U.12 Andrew Long was 2nd in the Ball Throw with a PB throw of 33.60m; 3rd in the 65mH and theHJump with a jump of 1.10m.  Emmett Whelan was 2nd in the Hurdles in a time of 12.12s and 2nd in the High Jump with a clearance of 1.15m.

Boys U.13 Aaron Fogarty won Double Titles when he won the 80m Sprint in a time of 10.89s and the 600m in a time of 1.50.14sAaron was 2nd in the Javelin with a throw of 13.87m; 3rd in the High Jump with a clearance of 1.20m, 3rd in the Shot Putt with a throw of 6.09m; 4th in the Long Jump with a jump of 3.91m.  Mark Kehoe was 1st in the Javelin with a throw of 14.85m and 2nd in the Shot Putt with a throw of 6.38m. Our U.13 Boys Relay Team were 2nd with a team of Emmett Whelan, Mark Kehoe, Andrew Long and Aaron Fogarty.

 In the Under 14 Boys Age Group  Darren Prout won 5 Gold Medals competing as an Individual.  He won the 75mH in a time of 12.31s; 80m Sprint in a time of 10.09s; 200m in a time of 26.40s; Long Jump with a jump of 4.88m and the Triple Jump with a brilliant jump of 10.72m.Michael Dineen was 2nd in the Javelin with a throw of 19.70m, 3rd in the Triple Jump with a great jump of 9.46m. Darragh Shelly was 2nd in the High Jump with a great clearance of 1.30m; 3rd in the 80m in a time of 10.95s; 3rd in the 200m in a time of 27.86s;  3rd in the Long Jump with a jump of 4.56m. Edward Carroll was 3rd in the Shot Putt with a throw of 8.07m and 3rd in the Javelin with a throw of 19m. Paddy Bartley was 4th in the Triple jump with a jump of 8.17; Sean Cooney was 4th in the Long Jump with a jump of 4.30m; Conor Shelly was 4th in the 75m Hurdles and 5th in the Triple Jump with a  jump of 7.35m. Their Relay Team of Conor and Darragh Shelly, Sean Cooney and Michael Dineen were 2nd, a great  experience and championship was had by these boys U.14.

Boys U.16 Cormac Fahey won the 100m in a time of 11.98s and he was 2nd in the 200m in a time of 24.75s.Trevor Smith was 3rd in the Javelin with a throw of 20.05m and 4th in the Long Jump with a jump of 4.73m.Our Boys U.16 Relay Team of Trevor Smith, Darragh Shelly, Michael Dineen and Cormac Fahey were 2nd.

Boys U.18 Shane O’Dwyer won Double Golds when he won the High Jump with a jump of 1.80m and the Triple Jump with a jump of 11.27m.

Jnr Men Keith Smith returning from injury had a great championship when he won 4 Titles. Keith won the 100m in a time of 11.60s; Long Jump with a jump of 6.23m; High Jump with a jump of 1.70m; and the Javelin with a throw of 36.65m. Shane Prout entered as an individual won the Triple Jump with a jump of 12.79m and was 2nd in the 100m Sprint;  2nd in the Long Jump with a jump of 5.98m.

Girls U.12 Shauna Twomey won the 65mHurdles in a time of 11.25s and she was 3rd in the High Jump with a jump of 1.15m. Cora Maher won the High Jump with a clearance of 1.18m and she was 2nd in the 65mHurdles in a time of 12.01s.

Girls U.14 Kelly Ann Doyle was 2nd in the High Jump with a clearance of 1.30m;  2nd in the Javelin with a throw of 13.87m; 3rd in the 75mHurdles  and 4th in the Long Jump with a jump of 3.95m.  Sinead Cosgrave was 4th in the 75m Hurdles.

Girls U.15 Eimear Bartley won 4 Titles when she won the High Jump with a jump of 1.35m; LJ with a jump of 4.39m; Shot Putt with a throw of 9.66m; and Javelin with a throw of 22.30m. Clodagh Fitzgerald won the 80m Hurdles; she was 2nd in the 100m and the 200m with a time of 27.80s. Emily Walsh was 2nd in the Javelin with a throw of 19.70; 3rd in the Shot Putt with a throw of 6.07m; and 3rd   in the Long Jump with a jump of 3.99m.

Sinead Curry was 2nd in the 2000m Walk in a time of 16.37min.  Heather Dowley was 2nd in the Shot with a throw of 6.16m. Our Relay Team  of  Kelly Ann Doyle, Clodagh Fitzgerald, Eimear Bartley and Zoe Lynch won Gold.

Girls U.16 Aoife Cooney was 3rd in the 200m in a time of 29.09s.  The Girls Relay Team of Kelly Ann Doyle, Clodagh Fitzgerald, Eimear Bartley and Aoife Cooney won Silver Medals.

Girls U.18 Colleen Kennedy was 2nd in the 100m Hurdles and 2nd in the Long Jump with a jump of 4.51m.

Gold  Medal Wins for Aoife Doyle, Caitlin Twomey  and Dylan Wall at the Tipperary Indoor Games  ages U.9 to U.12 held in Nenagh last weekend. 13th & 14th March 2010

Aoife Doyle was a clear winner of the 60m Gold Race U.11.  Aoife was also 2nd in the Long Jump with a jump of 3.14m.

 In the  Girls U.10   Caitlin Twomey was the winner of the 60m Silver final with  Laura Whelan  finishing a fast  2nd in the same race.  Isobelle Dineen also made the final.  Alexandra Lapij was 4th in the Gold 60m Heat and was unlucky not to reach the final.  Their Relay Team of Laura Whelan, Caitlin Twomey, Sarah Breen and Alexandra Lapij finished 4th.

Boys U.10 Dylan Wall in his first championship won the 60m Silver Final in a very competitive race.   Aaron Kinsella was 2nd in the Gold 60m Heat and 4th in the final.  Boys U.11 Luke Ward was a most improved athlete when he  won the 60m Gold Heat and Semi-Final to reach the Gold Final.  Luke was 5th in the Long Jump with a jump of 3.06m.  Cian Kinsella,  Oisin Aylward, Luke Ward &  John O’Dwyer also ran competitive races to reach the Silver Finals.  Their Relay Team of Aaron Kinsella, Dylan Wall, Luke Ward and Cian Kinsella finished an impressive 3rd  in a time of 1.08. 

Boys U.12 Andrew Long was 2nd in the U.12 Long Jump with a fine jump of 3.22m and he came 5th in the 600m race.  The boys U.12 Relay Team of Oisin Aylward, Luke Ward, John O’Dwyer and Andrew Long was 2nd in a time of 1.07.12.


4 Munster Titles for Aoife Bartley March 6th & 7th 2010

Last weekend the 2nd leg of the Munster Indoor Championship was held in Nenagh.  Aoife Bartley U.19 was the star athlete of the meet when she won the 60mH in 9.75, the Triple Jump with a jump of 10.76m, Long Jump with a jump of 5.05m and the High Jump with a clearance of 1.55m and in the U.19 Relay Final our team of Yvonne Maher, Aoife Bartley, Grainne Power and Hannah Trehy were Silver Medal winners. 

Shane O’Dwyer U.18 was 2nd in the 60m sprint,  2nd in the High Jump with a clearance of 1.80m beat only on countback and he was 3rd in the Long Jump with a jump of 6.09m. 

Hannah Trehy U.19 was 3rd in the 60mH and 4th in her 200m and 400m finals. 

In the Long Jump U.14 Darragh Shelly finished 5th with a P.B. jump of 4.51m. Michael Dinneen U.14 had a P.B. jump of 3.89m.  Sinead Cosgrove U.14 had a great run in the 60mH when she finished 4th in the final.

Other athletes to reach the finals were Clodagh Fitzgerald in the 60mH, Eimear Bartley in the Shot Putt and High Jump and Colleen Kennedy in the Long Jump with a PB of 4.71m and our Girls U.15 Relay Team of Kelly Ann Doyle, Clodagh Fitzgerald, Zoe Lynch and Hannah Dalton had a PB time in their 4 x 200m to just miss out by one place for the final.

Cormac Fahey U.16 won his 60m heat and finished 4th in his final.  He was also 2nd in the 200m heat just missing out on qualifying for the final.

In the U.12 age group Shauna Twomey was 3rd in the High Jump with a clearance of 1.15m in what was a very exciting competition and she finished 7th in the Long Jump with a jump of 3.40m. 

All of the medal winners have qualified to compete in the All Ireland Indoor Championship which will be held in Nenagh the last weekend of March.  

Our training days are Tuesday, Wednesday or Friday at 4pm each week in the Sean Kelly’s Sports Centre Field .  New athletes are always welcome.


Double Titles for Shauna Twomey, Aoife Bartley,Dara Kervick  and Shane O’Dwyer  at the Tipperary Indoor Championships March 2010

Last Saturday we travelled to Nenagh for the 1st County Indoor Championship of the Season where our athletes performed competitively with Shauna Twomey and Cora Maher finishing 1st and 2nd in the Long and High Jumps U.12 and also helped  their Relay Team to victory.  Other Double winners were Aoife Bartley  in the Junior Women when she won the 60mH and Shot Putt and Dara Kervick and Shane O’Dwyer in the Junior Mens,  Dara winning the 60m and 400m and Shane won the Long and High Jumps.

Girls U. 12  Shauna Twomey won Double Gold when she won the High Jump with a jump of 1.17m and the Long Jump with a jump of 3.68m she was 2nd in the 60m Sprint in a time of 9.54.  Cora Maher also had a good championship finishing  2nd in the High Jump with a jump of 1.11m and 2nd in the Long Jump with a jump of 3.25m. Our  U.12 Relay team also won Gold with a Team of Aoife Doyle, Shauna Twomey, Zara Galvin and Cora Maher in a time of 1.04.6.

Girls U.14  Sinead Cosgrove won the 60mH in a time of 9.78.  Kelly Ann Doyle was 2nd in  a time of 10.03, Kelly Ann  was also 3rd in the 800m in a time of 2.41.

Girls U.15  Eimear Bartley won the High Jump with a jump of 1.38m, she was 2nd in the Long Jump with a jump of 4.16m and 2nd in the Shot Putt with a throw of 7.23m.  Clodagh Fitzgerald won the 60mH in a time of 9.90 and was 3rd in the 60m Sprint with a time of 8.79.  Emily Walsh was 3rd in the 60mH in a time of 12.18 and 3rd in the Shot Putt  with a throw of 6.21m.  Our other competitors U.15 who competed well were Zoe Lynch, Hannah Dalton and Heather Dowley all competing at their first championship.

Girls U.17  Colleen Kennedy won the 60mH in a time of 9.69 and she was 2nd in the L Jump with a jump of 4.51m.  The U.17 Girls Relay Team of Clodagh Fitzgerald, Colleen Kennedy, Aoife Cooney and Hannah Dalton were 2nd  in a time of 2.03.41.

Jnr Women  Aoife Bartley won Double Gold when she won the 60mH in a time of 10.09 and the Shot Putt with a throw of 8.26m. Hannah Trehy was 2nd in the 60mH in a time of 10.47 and 2nd in the 400m in a time of 63.1.  The  Jnr Women’s Relay Team of  Yvonne Maher, Aoife Bartley, Grainne Power and Hannah Trehy were 3rd in a time of 1.56.7.

Boys U.13  Mark Kehoe won the Shot Putt with a throw of 6.7m.  Aaron Fogarty was 2nd in the 60m Sprint, 2nd in the High Jump with a jump of 1.20m and 3rd in the Long Jump with a jump of 3.51m. Aidan Ward  was 3rd in the 800m in a time of 3.18.  The U.13 Boys Relay Team won with a team Paddy Bartley, Aidan Ward, Mark Kehoe and Aaron Fogarty in a time of 1.01.79.

Boys U.14   Michael Dineen was 2nd in the Shot Putt with a throw of 6.57m.  Darragh Shelly was 3rd n the 60mH in a time of 10.29. 

Boys U.15  Darragh Shelly competing out of age was 3rd in the 60m in a time of 8.79.  Our Boys Relay Team of  Conor & Darragh Shelly, Michael Dineen and Sean Cooney all of whom will be able to compete in the same age group next year came 3rd in a time of 2.04.09.

Boys U.17  Cormac Fahey was 3rd in the 60m Sprint again, out of age and our U.17 Relay Team with a team of  Cormac Fahey, Sean Dunphy, Liam Landy and Trevor Smith were 4th in a time of 1.55.05.

Junior Men  Dara Kervick won Double Gold when he won the 60m Sprint in a time of 6.59 and the 400m in a time of 55.28.  Shane O’Dwyer won the High Jump with a jump of 1.75m and the Long Jump with a jump of 5.90m and he came 2nd in the 60m in a time of 6.99.  The Junior Men’s Relay Team made up of  Conor O’Sullivan, Cormac Fahey, Shane O’Dwyer and Dara Kervick had a brilliant win in a time of 1.40.06.

All our younger athletes should return to training and new members are always welcome for competitionwhich will be held in Nenagh on March 13th.  Training times are 4pm on Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday each week in the Sean Kelly’s Sports Centre Field.


Munster Sports Star Award for Carrick on Suir Athletes January 2010

2010 has started with Aoife Bartley winning her 2nd Munster Star Award and Triple Jump Award and Shane O’Dwyer won his 3rd  Munster Sports Star Award for Tipperary Athletes in 2009. 

Aoife won the High Jump, Long Jump and Triple Jump and was 2nd in the 100mH at The Munster Indoor Championship.  Aoife won the 100mH and was 2nd in the Long Jump at The Munster Junior Indoor Championship. At the All Ireland Indoor Championship Aoife was 2nd in the Triple Jump.  At The Munster Track & Field Championship Aoife won the Long Jump and Triple Jump and was 2nd in the 100mH and High Jump. At the All Ireland Track & Field Aoife won Gold in the Long Jump and Silver in the Triple Jump and High Jump.  Aoife also won her 5th International Cap when she competed on the Irish Celtic Team in Scotland where she finished 3rd in the Long Jump.

Shane O’Dwyer won the 200m and was 2nd in the 60m, High Jump and Long Jump at The Munster Juvenile Indoor Championships he also won the High Jump at the Junior Munster Indoor Championship. Shane went on to win Gold in the High Jump U.17 at the All Ireland Indoor Championship. In The Munster Track & Field Championship Shane won Gold in the High Jump and Long Jump .At the All Ireland Track & Field he was 2nd in the High Jump.  Shane won his 2nd International Cap at the Schools International in Belfast where he finished 4th in the High Jump.
