It was a beautiful sunny day for Kilmacow
Open Sports where our young athletes
enjoyed what turned out to be a very competitive sports.
U.10
Aoife Doyle was 2nd in the 80mSprint and ran a great 300m U.11
to finish 5th.
U.11
Eimear Long was 3rd in the 80m and ran a great 300m to finish
3rd.
U.13
Kelly Ann Doyle had a great win in the High Jump and was 2nd
in the 80m Sprint.
U.14
Clodagh Fitzgerald had a convincing win in the Long Jump and she was 3rd
in the
80m.
Clodagh led the Relay Team U.14 to Silver Medal position when she
handed over
a convincing lead to Jodie Murphy who in her first
race ran a great leg handing over to
Colleen Power who was also running for the first time handed the baton
over to
Kelly Ann Doyle who secured with every step the Silver Medal position.
U.16
Cormac Fahy was 3rd in the 100m.
Other athletes who had a good competition
were Jade Fitzgerald, Fiona Long and Andrew Long.
A great day was had by all.
At the Leevale Open Sports
in Cork Shane O’Dwyer again won the U.17 High Jump with a jump of 1.75m
and
Shane also had a PB Jump in the Jnr Mens Long Jump with a jump of 6.05m.
Keith Smith was 2nd in Jnr Men Hurdles
and 4th
in the Long Jump with a PB jump of 6.50m.
The Community Games Sports
day will be held next Sunday April 26th at 3pm in the
Sean Kelly Sports Centre Field.

Shane O’Dwyer Wins All
Ireland
High Jump April 4th 2009
Over the past two weekends our athletes
competed at the All Ireland Championships in Nenagh and Derry.
In Nenagh Keith Smith was 2nd in the Hurdles U.19 in a
time of 8.91. Aoife Bartley was
2nd in the Triple Jump U.18 with a jump of 11.21m and her sister
Eimear was 3rd in the Shot Putt U.14 with a PB throw of 9.77m.
Last weekend two of our athletes travelled to
Derry where Shane O’Dwyer won the High Jump U.17 with a clearance of 1.80m
10cm more than any other competitor in the competition.
Shane also was 4th in the Long Jump with a jump of 5.82m.
Keith Smith added another Silver Medal to his collection when
he finished 2nd
in the Long Jump with a PB jump of
6.32m.
Aoife Bartley was unable to compete in
Derry
as she was selected on the Irish
National Squad to travel to
Portugal
for warm weather training.
The hard luck story of the Championship goes
to Dara Kervick who was unable to compete due to illness
in his 200 and 400m where his times are much faster than the winners of
these events.
Training sessions over Easter Holidays in
preparation for our County Championships will be held on Tuesday, Wednesday
and Friday at 2:30pm in the Sean Kelly Sports Centre Field.
Our Church Gate Collection for our Athletic
Club will be held on 18th
and 19th of April in Carrick-on-Suir and Faugheen.
Emer Long Wins Double Titles
March 23rd 2009
Under 11 Emer Long was our Star performer at the Nenagh Games held last
Sunday.Emer won the Long Jump with a jump of 3.50m and she also won the
60m sprint.Shauna Twomey was 2nd in the Long Jump with a jump
of 3.27m and Cora Maher was
4th with a jump of 3.13m.
In the Girls U.10 Aoife Doyle had another good day when she won the Long
Jump
with a jump of 3.10m and she was 2nd
in the 60m Sprint. Girls U.9
Caithlyn Twomey was 5th in the Long Jump with a jump of
2.68m.
In the Girls U.11 Relay the team of Aoife Doyle, Emer Long, Shauna
Twomey and
Cora Maher were 2nd.
In
the Boys U.9 Aaron Kinsella was 4th in the Long Jump with a
jump of 2.73m.
In
the Boys U.10 relay our team of Aaron and Cian Kinsella, Joe Mee and
Oran Brophy were 3rd.
In
the Boys U.11 our team of Cian Kinsella, Oran Brophy, Niall Tobin and
Andrew Long were 4th.
In
the Boys U.12 Oisin Brophy had a great day when he won the 600m with a
fine run
To win in a sprints finish.
Their Relay team under 12 of Andrew Long,
Cian
Kinsella, Niall Tobin and Oisin Brophy were 3rd.
Well done to all the
athletes who competed and they are looking forward to their
Track & Field competition on May 4th when we will have a big
contingent in all age groups.

Kervick at the Tipp Indoor U.12 to Junior Championship March

At the Tipp Indoor U.12 to Junior
Championships held recently in Nenagh our
Athletes collected a total of 14 Individual Titles to bring back home to
Carrick.
In
the absence of their Coach and
Mentor Emby Walsh, who is presently in hospital
the athletes did not let her down and performed well on the day.
We would like to
take this opportunity to wish her a speedy recovery!
Girls U.13
Sinead Cosgrove was 2nd in the 60mH in a time of 11.68
Girls U.14
Clodagh Fitzgerald won the 60mH in a time of 9.55.
Eimear Bartley won the 2 Kg Shot with a throw of 10.09.
Colleen Kennedy
won both the Girls U.16 & Girls
U.17
60mH with times of 9.46 in the U.16 race and 9.77 in the U.17.
Colleen was also 2nd in the U.17 Long Jump with a jump
of 4.74m. Our Relay Team
U.17 were 3rd with a team of
Colleen Kennedy, Aoife Cooney, Nicole Breen and Emma Hanlon.
Aoife Bartley
won the Girls U18 60mH in a
time of 9.19 and she also won the Jnr Women’s Long Jump with a jump of
1.55m. Our
Jnr Women’s Relay Team
was 3rd
in a time of 1.59. The team
consisted of Aoife Cooney, Yvonne Maher, Aoife Bartley
and Colleen Kennedy.
Boys U.12
Aaron Fogarty won the Long Jump with a jump of 3.50m and he was 2nd
in the 60m in a time of 8.96. Mark
Kehoe was 2nd in the Shot Putt with a throw of 6.43m.
Boys U.13
Darragh Shelly was 2nd in the High Jump with a jump of 1.20m
and
3rd
in the 60mH with a time of 10.69.
The U.13 Relay team won in a time of 59.64
with a team of Michael Dinneen, Darragh Shelly, Conor Shelly &
Aaron Fogarty.
Boys U.15
Cormac Fahy won the 60m in a time of 8.02 and Sean Dunphy was hot on his
heals in a time of 8.02.5.
Sean was 2nd
in the Shot Putt with a throw of 10.90m.
Boys U.17
Shane O’Dwyer won Three Treble Titles when he won 60m in a time of 7.10,
the High Jump with a jump of 1.80m and the Long Jump with a jump of
5.60m.
JnrMen
Dara Kervick won Double Titles when he won the 60m sprint in a time
of 6.94 and he won the 400m in a time of .59.64.
Keith Smith
won the 60mH in a time of 8.69 and was 2nd in the 60m with a
time of 7.60 and 2nd in his Long Jump with a jump of 6.19m.
The U.9 to U.12
will be competing in County Tipperary Indoor Competition venue Nenagh on
Sunday 22nd March starting time

and Dara Kervick in the 60m Sprint,200m and 400m, and Double for Keith
Smith in the 60mH and Long Jump
at the Munster Juvenile Indoor Championship held in Nenagh
Girls U.10 Aoife Doyle won
her Long Jump with a fine jump of 3.23m for a convincing win and she was
3rd in the 60m Sprint.

Aoife Bartley won High Jump with
a jump of 1.50m, Long Jump with a jump of 5.02m, Triple Jump
with a jump of 10.81m and Silver in the 60mH.
Boys U.19
Dara Kervick won 60mSprint with a PB time of 7.22, 200m in a PB Time of
22.8 and 400m. Keith Smith
won the 60m Hurdles and Long Jump.

Our athletes travelled to Nenagh to
compete over the weekend at the Munster Juvenile U.13 to U.17
Indoor Championships.
Girls U.13

Kelly Ann Doyle won the 60mH and she was joint 2nd in
the High Jump with Naoimi Ryan both jumping
1.25m. Kelly-Ann was 3rd in the Long jump with a jump of
3.88m.
Girls U.14
-
Clodagh Fitzgerald
won the heat of the 60mH and was only beaten by photo finish in the
final. Robyn
O’Dwyer had a great
High Jump competition to finish
2nd with a jump of 1.30m
and 4th
in Long Jump with jump of 4.11m.
Eimear Bartley who
unfortunately has been injured and unable to train finished 2nd
in Shot Putt with a PB throw of 9.88m.

17 -Tara Fogarty
ran a great final in the 60mH for a convincing.
Boys U.15
- Sean Dunphy
in his first competition was 2nd in the Shot Putt with a throw of
10.86m beaten only by 7cm after just one training session with
the Shot, what an achievement!
Boys U.17
- Shane O’Dwyer
continued with his usual high standard when he Won the
200m. Shane was 2nd
in 60m and also 2nd
in the High Jump with a jump of
1.60m and

Long Jump with a jump of 5.86m.
This next weekend we travel to
Glasgow
for the Scottish Indoor Championship in Kelvin Hall.

Gold for Kelly-Ann Doyle

Aoife Bartley was the recipient of no less than 2 Awards last
weekend.
When she received the Annerville Award for her 2008 Athletic
Achievements and the Munster Sports Star joint Award for the Triple
Jump.
Aoife broke the Triple Jump records at the East Munster Schools,
the Munster T&F Championship and the All Ireland T&F Ch
where she had a record jump of 11.24m taken 63cm off the old record.
Aoife also
won National Title at
Long Jump and Silver Medals at High
Jump and Javelin.
Aoife represented Ireland on 3
different occassions namely, The
Schools’ International Team, The Celtic International in Scotland and
the 3 AAA Championship in Birmingham.
Shane O’Dwyer
won the Munster Sports Star Award for Best Overall
Tipperary male athlete.
At the
Munster Indoor Championship – Shane won the High Jump with a jump
of 1.60m, he was 2nd in the 200m and 3rd in the Long Jump. At the
Munster T&F Shane won the High Jump with a jump of 1.65,
the Long Jump with a jump of 5.44m.
He was 2nd in the 100m and 200m.
At
The All Ireland T&F Championship Shane went on to win the High Jump with a jump
of 1.70m and was rewarded with selection on the Irish Celtic Team which
competed in Scotland.
Over the past 2 weekends
Kelly-Ann Doyle
was competing as a member of the Tipperary Cross Country Relay Team
that won Munster Gold in Dungarvan.
The Team made up of
Ciara Cummins, Moyne; Nicola
Loughnane, Thurles Crokes; Saoirse McGeever, Clonmel and Kelly-Ann
travelled to Boyle, Co. Roscommon where all the girls floated
with ease on a very muddy surface to give them victory by over 100m.
There was
great excitement amongst all the
Tipperary
Supporters who travelled the long journey, in
what again, was terrible weather conditions.
Liam Landy
ran a great leg for the Boys U.14 Tipperary Relay Team that won Silver Medals in
Dungarvan.
Liam was had a great race when competing for
Newtown
Secondary School
in the Waterford Cross Country Schools Championship where he finished 2nd
.

students who competed in the South Tipperary Cross Country Schools
Championship and won Team Medals in every age group!
Silver Medals for Aoife Bartley and Dara Kervick at All Ireland Junior
Indoor Championship
The
All Ireland Junior Championship was held in Nenagh where Aoife
Bartley finished 2nd in the Long Jump with a jump of 4.91m and 5th
in the Triple Jump with a jump of 10.16m. Dara Kervick had
a great championship when he won the Heat of his 200m by over 20m but
unfortunately was drawn in lane 2 for the final to finish 2nd in a time
of 23.15secs. almost catching the seeded athlete in lane 4.
Shane O’Dwyer was 4th in his High Jump with a clearance of
1.70m.
County Cross Country Championships
Last weekend was the first leg of the
County Cross Country Championship held in Longford Pass hosted by Moyne
Athletic Club
In the Boys U.10 John O’Dwyer had a
good race to finish 5th with Craig Cooke 24th,Charlie
Murphy 27th and Oisin Aylward finishing in the bunch. Their
team finished 6th. Boys U.12 Aaron Fogarty was always
up with the front runners in what was a very competitive race to finish
4th. Mark Kehoe also ran a great race to finish 20th.
Girls U.14 running in their 1st
Cross Country race Hannah Dalton was our first competitor home
finishing 20th, Sinead Cosgrave finished 23rd,
Heather Dowley 25th Zoe Lynch 34th Emily Walsh 35th making up the team
to finish 4th place.
This weekend we travelled to Littleton for
the 2nd Leg of the Cross Country Championship. Our star
performer this weekend was Hannah Trehy where she ran a great race to
finish 2nd in the Girls U.19.
In the
Girls U.9 Caitlyn Twomey running in her first Cross Country race
finished very strong in 9th
place. In the Girls U.11 Shauna Twomey finished 23rd
in what was possibly one of the biggest races on the day. Aoife McGrath
finished a respectable 49th in her first Cross Country race.
Girls U.13 Sinead Cosgrave running in her own age group had another
competitive run to finish 7th.
Boys U.15 Liam Landy had a good run always up competing with the
leaders when finished 4th in a very competitive race.
Next weekend we travel to Dungarvan for
the 1st Leg of the Munster Cross Country Championships.
New Members are always welcome to get fit
in a fun way. Training is on Tuesdays, Wednesdays or Fridays at
4pm in the Sean Kelly Sports Centre Field.

All Ireland Titles for Our Athletes with Keith Smith Winning Treble
Titles
Keith Smith U.19 was the Star Athlete of

the 110m Hurdles, the Long Jump with a jump of 6.19m and the High Jump

with a throw of 39.95m. Aoife Bartley U.18 won the Long Jump with
a jump of 5.25m and Aoife was 2nd
in the Treble Jump with a jump of 10.91m and she was 3rd in
the High Jump with a clearance of 1.50m.Clodagh Fitzgerald won the Girls
U.14 Javelin on her first throw of 30.23m . Four of Clodagh’s
throws were better than any other competitor in the competition.
Dara Kervick U.19 won the 200m in a time
of 22.94seconds he was also 4th
in the 100m and 400m. Shane O’Dwyer was 2nd in the Boys U.17
High Jump with a jump of 1.75m beaten on count-back. Eimear
Bartley Girls U.14 was 3rd in the Shot Putt with a fine throw
of 10.80m.
All Ireland County Relays
Representing Tipperary at the All Ireland
Relay Championship Kelly Ann Doyle was a member of the Tipperary
U.13 Girls Relay Team to bring a Silver Medal home. Hannah Trehy
was a member of the U.19 Girls Team to win Bronze. In the Boys
U.13 Darragh Shelly ran a great leg to help his team win Bronze Medals.
Boys U.15 Relay Team , Cormac Fahey ran the 2nd
leg for the team to win Silver Medals. Our Boys U.19 Relay Team of
Keith Smith, Dara Kervick and David Roberts were joined by Shane Prout
of Coolquill to win Silver Medal for their efforts.
Schools International
Shane O’Dwyer competed again for Ireland
in the Intermediate High Jump at the Schools International which was
held in Belfast last weekend. Shane was in fine jumping form where
he had a clearance 1.85m to finish joint 5th for the Irish Team.

At the Munster Track & Field Championships
which was held last weekend in Waterford there was an excellent entry
in all events.
Girls U.14
Clodagh Fitzgerald was 1st in the 75mH heat and came 2nd
in the Finals. She was 2nd in her Javelin with a throw of
24.46m and she also qualified for her 80m In the Semi-finals.
Eimear Bartley was 2nd in her Shot with a throw of 10.50m and
she came 5th in the High Jump and 5th in the
Javelin.
Girls U.16
Colleen Kennedy was 4th in the 250mH and she was 5th
in the Long Jump with a PB jump of 4.75m.Girls
U.18
Aoife Bartley won the Long Jump with a jump of 5.31m and the Treble Jump
with a jump of 10.97m and she was 2nd in the High Jump with a
clearance of 1.50m and 2nd in the 100mH. Hannah Trehy
was 3rd
in the 100mH and 4th in the 300mH and also the 300m.
Boys U.15
Sean Dunphy was 4th in his Shot Putt and 5th in
the Disc. Cormac Fahy had good runs in the 100m and 200m where he
was unlucky finishing just one place outside of qualifying for his
finals.Boys U.17
Shane O’Dwyer won his Long Jump with a P.B. Jump of 6.10m and his High
Jump with a jump of 1.80m and he was 4th in the 200m and
400m.Boys U.19
Keith Smith won his 110mH and his Long Jump with a jump of 6.43m and he
was 2nd in the High Jump with a clearance of 1.70m and 2nd
in a Javelin with a throw of 44.95m.

was a member of the Borrisokane National League Team where she won her
Treble Jump and was 2nd in the Long Jump and 100mH
Shane O’Dwyer
will be representing Carrick on Suir CBS where he will be competing for
the Munster Team at the Tailteann Inter Pro Games in Tullamore.

Shane O’Dwyer wins Intermediate Boys All Ireland
Schools High Jump
At the Schools All Ireland Track & Field Championship held recently in
Tullamore our athletes competed well in what was a very competitive
championship. ShaneO’Dwyer,
CBS was in great
jumping form when he was the only competitor to clear 1.86m in his
Intermediate Boys
High Jump without having conceded a fault but unfortunately he could
not continue to try for a higher height as it was clashing with his
Long Jump event where he finished 4th with a jump of 6m.
Keith Smith Commeragh College was 4th in the Senior Boys
Hurdles
and 5th in the Long Jump
with a Personal Best performance of 6.51m.
In the Senior Girls Triple Jump
Aoife Bartley, Scoil Mhuire, was 4th
with a jump of 10.74m and she was 5th in her 100m Hurdles
with a time of 16.44. Hannah Trehy, Cashel was 6th in
the Senior Girls Hurdles with a time of 17.78.

Kelly-Ann Doyle was a clear winner in the
60mHurdles U.13 retaining her Munster Title which she won at the Indoor
Championship in February.
In the Boys U.10
Oran Brophy and
Craig Cooke won the 2xTeam Ball Throw. Oran Brophy had a great
throw of 35.35m and Craig Cooke throw almost 30m for a combined total of
almost 75m winning by 6metres from their nearest rivals.
In the 500m Oran Brophy and John O’Dwyer
were 5th overall and Cian Kinsella and Craig Cooke were 9th
in the Long Jump.
In the Girls U.11
Shauna Twomey and Emer Long were 3rd in their Long Jump
which qualifies them for the All Ireland Final on June 27th
in Templemore.
Our Girls Relay Team U.11 of Aoife Doyle,
Emer Long, Corah Maher and Shauna Twomey won the heat in torrential rain
but were given 4th place on time.
In the Boys U.13
Darragh Shelly and
Michael Dinneen both qualified for theirSemi-Finals in the 60m and in
the U.13 Relay Semi-Final our team had a greatwin with a team of Conor
and Darragh Shelly, Arron Fogarty and Michael Dinneen and finished 4th

Keith Smith also Comeragh College was 2nd in the 110mH
and3rd LongJump with a jump of 6.40m.

Mhuire , was 3rd in the Shot Putt with a throw of
8.78m.

Aoife Bartley, Scoil Mhuire won the 100mH in a time of 17.99 and The
Triple Jump with a jump of 11.13m.

who trains with Carrick on Suir A.C. but goes to
Cashel C.S. was 2nd in the 100mH with a time of 18.67 and 3rd

O’Dwyer won the 100m in a time of 11.61 and he was 2nd
in the LJump with a Jump of 5.46m and 2nd in the Shot with a
throw of 8.40m.

Keith Smith won 4 Titles when he won the 110mH in a time of 16.12, the
Triple Jump with a
Jump of 12m,
the Shot Putt with a throw of 8.47m and the Javelin with a throw of
39.54m he was
2nd
in the 100m with a time of 11.43 and 2nd in the High Jump
with a jump of 1.80m.
Dara Kervick
won the 100m in a time of 11.30 and the
High Jump with a jump of 1.80m. Our Jnr Men Relay team of
Conor
O’Sullivan, Shane O’Dwyer, Keith Smith and Dara Kervick had a convincing
win with a time of 47.89.
Girls U.10 Kerri Ann Whelan won the Ball Throw with a throw of 23.43m.
Aoife Doyle was 2nd in the
LJump with a
jump of 3.11m, 3rd in the 60m with a time of 9.96 and 3rd
in the 500m with a time of 1.50.72.
Girls U.11 Eimer Long was 2nd in the
HJump with a jump of 1.05m. and Shauna Twomey was 3rd with a

Relay with a Team of
Aoife Doyle, Eimer Long, Cora Maher and Shauna Twomey.
Girls U.13 Kelly Ann Doyle won Treble Titles when she won the 60mH in a time of
10.34, the HJump
with a jump of 1.20m and the Javelin with a throw of 13.96m.
She was 2nd in the 600m with a time of
1.50.
Sinead Cosgrave was 3rd in the
800m with a time of 11.93.
Naoimi Ryan was 3rd in the High Jump with a jump of

Clodagh Fitzgerald won 4 Titles when she won the 75mH in a time of

Our Girls U.18 were 2nd in the 4x100m Relay with a team of
Michelle Kehoe, Aoife Bartley, Hannah Trehy and Colleen Kennedy.

Team November 2008
At the All Ireland
Inter County & Juvenile Even Ages Cross Country Championship held last
Sunday in Tramore Kelly-Ann Doyle
U.12 ran a good race to
finish a fine 33rd enabling
the Tipperary Team to win a Silver medal.
Liam Landy U.14 in his first All Ireland race had a good run to
finished 45th .
Aaron Fogarty U.12,
competing out of age
finished in the bunch. All
athletes ran well in what proved to be a difficult course being to
narrow to allow atheletes to pass.
Great Run for Aaron Fogarty at the
Munster
Cross Country Championship November 13th 2008
Aaron
Fogarty finished 4th at the 2nd leg of the Munster
Cross Country Championship held in Cooraclare in dreadful weather
conditions. Aaron had a
great start and ran a very solid race, always up running with the
leaders to finish 4th and led the Tipperary Team to Silver
Medal position only beaten 4pts by
Cork
This
qualifies Aaron for the
Munster
and Tipperary Team U.11 to compete in Ballyhaise, Co. Cavan on December 7th
where he will also lead the Tipperary Team.
Next Sunday November 23rd
we travel to Tramore for the 1st Leg of the All Ireland
Cross Country Championship.
Kelly-Ann Doyle is a member of the Munster & Tipperary Team Under 12,
Aaoron Fogarty and Aiveen O’Neill all U.12 and Liam Landy U.14 are all
members of the Tipperary Teams competing there.

Munster
Cross Country Team
The 1st Leg of the Munster
Cross Country Championship was held at the Turnpike,
Littleton
last Sunday. Big fields of
about 150 competitors were the order of each race.
In the Girls U.10 Eimear Long got off to a
great start to finish 23rd ,
Cora Maher was 36th
and both girls scored on the
Tipperary
team to win Bronze Medals. Aoife Doyle and
Shauna Twomey finished in the bunch.
Kelly-Ann DoyleU.12 had a great run to finish 8th and qualify
for the
Munster
team to compete at the All Ireland which will be held in Tramore on
November 23rd.
She was also a scoring member of the Tipperary Team to win Gold.
Sinead Cosgrove and Naoimi Ryan also ran well.
Aaron Fogarty
U.12 and competing out of age, ran another good race to finish
14th and
was the 2nd
scoring member of the
Tipperary
team to win Bronze. Other
members of
the team running well were Owen and Darragh
Kelly and Edward Carroll.
U.14 Boys Liam Landy running well from the
start and was always up with the leaders finished 13th to
score for the
Tipperary
team to win Bronze.
Aoife Bartley Breaks Triple Jump Record at All
Ireland
Finals July 2008
At the 3rd
Leg of the All Ireland Finals held in Tullamore last weekend Aoife
Bartley U.17 broke the Triple Jump record on her first jump with a jump
of 11.24m.
All of her Jumps on the day were over 11metres.
The previous record was 10.61m.
U.18 Dara Kervick won
the 200m in a time of 22.64.
Dara was the fastest competitor from the heats which gave him
confidence for a convincing win in the final.
U.15
Emma O’Gorman had a great run in her heat which qualified her for the
final of her 200m.
U.17 Laura Cuddihy was
5th in the Shot Putt with a throw of 9.85m.
