Aoife Bartley wins four county titles with shane o'Dwyer winning three titles

The County Tipperary Juvenile Indoor Championships which were held over two days in Nenagh Indoor Stadium. Day 1 on Saturday 12th saw our U.13 to Junior athletes take an overall second place with 17 titles.

The boys U.15 had a fantastic Championship with Darren Prout winning both the 60m Hurdles and the Long Jump with a great jump of 5.18m. Darren also was second in the 60m sprint. Darragh Shelly was second in the Long Jump with a PB Jump of 4.96m. Darragh did well in the 60m Hurdles and the 60m sprint finishing in third place in both finals. Also competing in the Long Jump was Paddy Bartley who took third place with a PB Jump of 4.56m. Michael Dineen finished third in the Shot with a PB throw of 7.93m.  The Relay team of Darragh Shelly, Darren Prout, Conor Shelly and Michael Dineen won the sliver medal. In the boys U.17, Cormac Fahey finished second in his 60m final.

In the Junior Men’s, Shane O’Dwyer won his 60m final with a time of 6.85. Shane also won  the Junior Men’s 400m with a time of 53.58, with his club mate Shane Prout finishing in Fourth place. In the High Jump Shane O’Dwyer took first place jumping 1.75m and Shane Prout was second jumping 1.70m. In the Long Jump there were great results for the club with Shane Prout winning the event with a PB jump of 6.35 and Shane O’Dwyer hot on his heels in second place with a jump of 6.27m. In the Shot we had even more success with Shane O’Dwyer finishing in Second place with a 9.56m throw and Shane Prout throwing 9.08 for third place. Well done to both.

In the girls U.13 Shauna Twomey had a great race winning the 60m Hurdles final. Rhian Lowndes took second place in the shot with PB throw of 6.65.
Rebecca Kelly finished in second place in U.14 60m Hurdles.

The girls U.15 had a great Championship Leanne Prout finished in first place and Sinead Cosgrave took third place in the 60m Hurdles, Leanne also won silver in the Long Jump with a jump of 4.56m. The relay team of Leanne Prout, Rebecca Kelly, Kelly-Ann Doyle and Sinead Cosgrave took home the sliver medal.In the girls U.16 there was only one event for this age group with Emily Walsh winning the 60m Hurdles.

The girls U.17 took home a total of nine medals on the day.  Hannah Dalton was second in the 60m. Sinead Curry finished first in the 1000m Walk. In the High Jump, Emily Walsh won the event with a PB jump of 1.40m with Eimear Bartley in second with a jump of 1.35m.
The Long Jump was won by our very own Eimear Bartley jumping 4.40m with her club mates Hannah Dalton and Zoe Lynch finishing in fourth and fifth place. In the shot the girls took gold and sliver.  Eimear Bartley won the gold with a throw of 8.96m and Emily Walsh took home sliver with a throw of 7.36m. The girls U.17 finished  a great day winning their relay final with a team of Hannah Dalton, Eimear Bartley, Emily Walsh and Zoe Lynch. Well done to all.

In the Junior Women’s events Aoife Bartley did us proud winning gold in her 60m Hurdles. She also won the High Jump with and jump of 1.45m and the Long Jump with a jump of 5.20m and the Shot putt with a throw of 9.96m. The relay team of Aoife Bartley, Heather Dowley, Sinead Curry and Hannah Dalton also finished in third place.

Day 2 on Sunday 13th the U.9 to U.12 athletes really enjoyed the Championship and had some great results.

The boys U.9, Ciaran Barry was second in the 60m sliver Sprint with his club mate Conor Hogan finishing in fourth in the gold final. In their relay the boys finished in third place with a team of Conor Hogan, Ciaran Barry, Danny Prout and Dara Alyward.

In the boys U.11 60m sprint, Dylan Wall finished in fourth place. In the boys U.12 Long Jump Martin Kehoe finished in fourth place with a jump of 3.50m. The boys were fourth in their realy with a team of Dylan Wall, Jake Vermeer, Thomas Parle and Martin Kehoe. John O’Dwyer, Martin Kehoe, Thomas Parle and Oisin Aylward all ran well in the 600m.

The Girls U.9 really enjoyed competing in their first Championship. Kellie Bester ran a fantastic race coming from behind to win the 60m gold Sprint. In the Long Jump Lynn Vermeer took fourth place with a jump of 2.56m, Kellie Bester finished sixth jumping 2.41m. The girl’s team of Kellie Bester, Hannah Foley, Lynn Vermeer and Nicole Lapiy ran a great race and in a very exciting finish they won the gold.

In the Girls U.10 Long Jump Chole Hall who was fourth in a gold final was eighth overall in the Long Jump with a jump of 2.91m.

 In the girls U.11 60m Roseanne Fitzgerald won the gold medal. Miriam Daly and Alexandra Lapiy also qualified for the 60m gold final. Our girl’s team of Alexandra Lapiy, Caitlin Twomey, Miriam Daly and Roseanne Fitzgerald had a great race winning the relay.

Aoife Doyle girls U.12 won the shot putt with a PB throw of 6.68m. Aoife was second in the 60m Sprint and second in the Long Jump with a PB jump of 3.60m. Aoife was also second in the High Jump with a PB jump of 1.18m. Alice Browning was third in the shot with a throw of 5.93m with her club mate Tara Gayson finishing fourth with a throw of 5.67m.

At the All Ireland Championship held in Magherafelt, Darren Prout won the first heat of the hurdles and finished a close third in the final. Leanne Prout competing in the long Jump U.15 finished fifth with a PB jump of 4.69m. Well done to both!
